The Living Water partnership between the Department of Conservation and Fonterra will continue their monthly water monitoring runs at the Okaraika Pocket on August 12 and September 9. Water quality monitoring stations were installed in the Otakairangi Wetland in 2018 to record water quality changes resulting from implementation of on-farm projects identified in Farm Enviroment Plans. Flow gauging to assess stream flows in Otakairangi Stream and assist in the design of on-farm sediment mitigation measures is underway, as well as the monitoring of the effectiveness of two on-farm silt detention dams.
